Cowboy Up raises over $200,000

Parks Youth Ranch (PYR) held its 11th annual Cowboy Up on Saturday, September 30 in The Texas Ballroom at Safari Texas. Cowboy Up featured emcee George Lindsey from 100.3 The Bull, The Road Company from East Bernard, liquor & wine raffle, and silent and live auctions. The dessert bar was stacked with yummy bites donated by Crumbl Cookie in Aliana, Grammy’s Cookie Jar, It’s Better Sweet, Mon Cheri Macarons, Ninoshka’s Cakes, Sweet Bee’s Bake Box and The Mill. The PYR Board of Directors would like to extend their thanks to the 400 attendees, sponsors and hard-working volunteers, who helped make Cowboy Up 2023 a success!

Each year at Cowboy Up, the Carl Favre “True Believer Award” is given out to a dedicated volunteer who helps make our mission and vision a reality. This year, we honored a long time board member and great supporter, Jim Murray. Jim has served on the PYR board of directors since 2015. He is always willing to help whether it be with his wealth of knowledge from the over 25 years in the insurance business or connecting PYR staff to potential supporters. Jim is a great advocate of our mission and we are honored to have him on our side. Previous recipients have included Dick Hogan-2013, Mary Favre-2014, St. Laurence Social Concerns Ministry-2015, Fred & Mabel Parks Foundation-2016, Pat Somers-2017, Dee Koch-2018, Mike McGrath-2019, Lucy and Ron Hudson-2020, Tracey Schindler-2021 and Bill Rohrbach with Mark Eyring-2022.

PYR opened its doors in 2011 to provide emergency shelter, counseling and life-changing services to at-risk and homeless youth. Located in southern Fort Bend County, PYR is a 28-bed emergency shelter that provides services to abused and neglected youth ages 7 to 17 and a transitional living program for youth ages 16-20 years old. Since opening, the shelter has served over 1,700 children. PYR remains the only non-profit emergency shelter for youth in Fort Bend County. We are a Home for Today, Hope for Tomorrow for disadvantaged youth.
