Summer 2021
PYR residents had a fantastic summer thanks to our wonderful supporters and volunteers! We kicked off the summer with an afternoon at a trampoline park. In the month of June, youth attended the Juneteenth celebration with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department and enjoyed Go Fish at the Ranch. Eight of our residents attended a four-week horse therapy program at Reining Strength Therapeutic Horsemanship.
As the summer continued, youth enjoyed yoga with our Shelter Administrator, water balloon fights, watching a few movies at the local theater, and many trips to T.W. Davis YMCA as well as catching a baseball game at Sugar Land Skeeters.
Friends of PYR helped us celebrate five birthdays with residents. Youth also enjoyed eating out at Another Time Soda Fountain and Wing Quarters.
The summer ended with back to school clothes shopping thanks to Ross and St. Laurence Social Concerns, and a trip to the Houston Zoo courtesy of Skeeters Baseball Foundation. A special thank you to Fort Bend County Sheriff’s department for collecting school supplies for our youth.
Amongst all the fun, residents also had opportunities for learning. Three of our residents successfully completed online summer classes thanks to Fort Bend ISD. A representative from United Against Human Trafficking visited the Ranch to teach the resident about the warning signs of trafficking and the dangers of sexting.
Over the summer we welcomed teen and adult volunteers from Regnum Christi and Anchor Bend. Our youth enjoyed hanging out with these volunteers, and appreciated the quality time they spent together.
We could not thank St. Laurence Catholic Church enough for continuing to provide PYR with fresh fruit and vegetables, pastries, snacks and clothing.
Thanks for helping to make PYR Home for Today, Hope for Tomorrow!!
