Thanks to our many supporters and volunteers, PYR residents had a full summer, 2019! We kicked off the summer fun with a pizza party at 1000 Degrees Sugar Land and a Sugar Land Skeeters baseball game. Other summer activities included the Pancake Breakfast at Mamie George Community Center, Movies on Morton, bowling and many trips to T.W. Davis YMCA and Planet Fitness. Youth also enjoyed eating out at Another Time Soda Fountain, Firehouse Subs in Rosenberg and Raising Canes in Sugar Land.

A big thank you to Fort Bend Cares for providing funds that allowed eight of our residents to attend a six week horse therapy program at Reining Strength Therapeutic Horsemanship. All youth benefited greatly from their experience and wished the program could go all summer long!

Summer was a time of learning for our residents, as well. Three of our residents successfully completed summer classes.  A representative from Fort Bend Women’s Center spoke to our youth about healthy relationships and United Against Human Trafficking informed them about the warning signs of trafficking and the dangers of sexting.  A group of older residents toured Texas State Technical College and Texas Southern University.

Thank you to St. Laurence Catholic Church for once again allowing us to finish out the summer with a 4 night sleep away camp at Stoney Creek Ranch.  This was a first time camp experience for most of our youth and they thoroughly enjoyed it!

Over the summer we welcomed teen and adult volunteers from Regnum Christi, Anchor Bend and The Bridge Fellowship.  Our youth enjoyed hanging out and visiting with these volunteers and appreciated the quality time they spent together.

Thank you Frito Lay, H-E-B and St. Laurence Social Concerns for keeping our youth fed this summer.

Thanks for helping to make PYR Home for Today and Hope for Tomorrow!!
