Out of My Hand Project

JULY 19, 2015

In this collaboration with ARTreach, a cast of the residents hand was made in plaster. The paints used request the precious things in life seen in precious metal colors. The different textures represent the wishes in life - valuable things in life, not physical such as freedom, love, peace, knowledge and faith!

The hardest substance shown in black is chain which symbolizes the lack of freedom. When the chains are cast, they become the most fragile area of the artwork! Very symbolic of the hardships that our homeless youth continue to face in their lives!

Thank you to FBJSL and Texas Commission on the Arts for allowing continued collaboration with ARTreach! Together we are making a difference in the lives of homeless youth!
